    Description

HERE IS A 4 X 6 SIGNED PHOTO OF LUFTWAFFE GENERAL JOSEF KAMMHUBER. HE WAS A CAREER OFFICER IN THE LUFTWAFFE AND IS BEST KNOWN FOR BEING THE FIRST GENERAL OF THE NIGHT FIGHTERS DURING WW2. THE NIGHT FIGHTER DEFENSE WAS CALLED "THE KAMMHUBER LINE". PERSONAL BATTLES BETWEEN HE AND ERHARD MILCH OVER TECHNIQUE AND AIRCRAFT DESIGN EVENTUALLY LED TO HIS DISMISSAL FROM THAT POSITION IN 1943. HE WAS MADE COMMANDER OF LUFTFLOTTE 5 IN NORWAY BUT AT THE END OF THE WAR HE WAS REINSTATED TO HIS NIGHTFIGHTER POSITION EVEN THOUGH IT WAS LARGELY CEREMONIAL AT THAT TIME.  AFTER THE WAR HE RETURNED TO THE MODERN AIR ARM OF THE GERMAN DEFENSE FORCE. DURING THE WAR HE REACHED THE RANK OF GENERAL DER FLIEGER AND WAS AWARDED THE KNIGHTS CROSS.  HE DIED IN 1986 AT THE AGE OF 89. CONDITION OF PHOTO IS EXCELLENT WITH NO BENDS OR TEARS. LIKELY THE AUTOGRAPH WAS POST WAR BUT DIFFICULT TO TELL.
