Unknown WWII German helmet with raw edge. I don’t know how to categorize this helmet as either original or a replica? Has no size stamp that I can find yet has the correct placement of the rivets. Has the owner’s name & unit painted inside & a liner that looks original but could be an original replacement? Has some minor dents on the top. Has some stamps inside but could have been added later? Decal obviously a new replacement. In excellent condition. If it is original someone will get a great deal, if not it’s not a bad price for a replica. One watcher suggested that it was a redone Spanish helmet. However, the liner holes are in the wrong position for being a Spanish helmet. There is no indication that the liner holes have been redone. This is from another e-bay member:
It's a Finn M55 helmet, the liner & the rough edges are the giveaway. The decal & large round postal stamp are old "clone" attempts either by a reenactor or someone using this one for practice before doing anything to a German one.
When they stopped using these & put them in storage, typically new liners were installed.
I'm guessing whoever wore it used standard "stamp pad ink" as that smears on leather like that after applied vs the permanent type used on the 58. If genuine, there would be no eagle stamp anyways.
