This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild.
Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
This particular card was printed in remembrance of:
Alex Reuel
Alex served as a First Lieutenant and Company Commander in a motorized Infantry Regiment.
He was awarded the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Classes , the Infantry Assault Badge in Silver, and several other decorations.
Alex was also a student of Theology.
He was born on February 16, 1915 and fell on September 12, 1943.
